Three Fingers Lookout is a historic fire observation cabin on the southernmost pinnacle of Three Fingers Mountain in Washington’s Mount Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Built from 1930 to 1932 by Harold Engles and Fred Benesh after a 1929 feasibility climb, it was engineered for an extreme summit: rock was blasted to create a level base, the floor was bolted to stone, and cables anchored the structure against severe wind and exposure. Staffed seasonally from 1933 to 1942, it later survived through volunteer maintenance and repairs. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, it endures as an unusually intact early Forest Service lookout in a remarkably difficult setting.
