Coast Dairies State Park preserves a notably undeveloped stretch of Santa Cruz County’s North Coast near Davenport, protecting about seven miles of shoreline and roughly 7,000 acres of coastal land. Managed as part of Wilder Ranch State Park, it includes bluffs and beaches along Highway 1, with the California Coastal Trail linking much of the coast from the bluff tops. Ocean-side lands west of the highway were donated to California State Parks in 2006, helping maintain an open, uninterrupted landscape. In 2014, the Bureau of Land Management acquired 5,800 inland acres beside the coastal parcels, adding to one of the larger conserved coastal areas in this part of California.
