Kitt Peak, or Ioligam in O'odham, is the highest point in the Quinlan Mountains on the Tohono O'odham Nation in southern Arizona. Long revered as a sacred mountain, it includes I'itoi's Garden near the summit and remains second in spiritual importance on the reservation after Baboquivari Peak. Its modern prominence also comes from Kitt Peak National Observatory, established in 1958 after the site was chosen for its exceptionally dark, clear skies. The mountain now holds one of the world's largest collections of optical telescopes and radio instruments, making it a place where Indigenous cultural meaning and major astronomical research closely meet.
