MDM Observatory is an optical astronomy facility on Kitt Peak near Tucson, Arizona, established by a consortium originally represented by the name Michigan-Dartmouth-MIT Observatory and now operated by five universities. Its work centers on two reflecting telescopes: the McGraw–Hill Telescope, first installed in Michigan in 1969 and moved to Kitt Peak in 1975, and the larger Hiltner Telescope, which entered service in 1986 for galactic surveys. Using low-expansion Cer-Vit mirrors, these instruments have supported decades of research, including observations of the PS1-13cbe galactic nucleus transient. The McGraw–Hill Telescope also inspired the naming of asteroid 4432 McGraw-Hill.
