Paulina Peak
Nature
Paulina Peak, the summit of Newberry Volcano in central Oregon, rises to 7,984 feet and is the volcano’s highest point within Newberry National Volcanic Monument. Formed by the same volcanic activity that created Newberry Volcano, it is one of the monument’s best-known viewpoints. From the summit, visitors can see across the Newberry Caldera, the volcano’s south and west flanks, the Cascades, the Fort Rock Basin, and much of central Oregon. On especially clear days, views extend to Mount Shasta in California and Mount Adams in Washington. Access is usually seasonal, generally from early July until late October or early November.
