History
2
Booker was platted in 1917 by Thomas C. Spearman, a Santa Fe Railway official, and was named for railroad locating engineer B. F. Booker. In 1919 the town of La Kemp, Oklahoma, six miles north, moved here, and the first train arrived on July 4, 1919, the official birthdate of Booker. Its economy was based on farming, cattle, and, since 1956, oil and gas production.
