Simon Snyder lived in Selinsgrove while serving as a member of the Assembly from 1797 to 1808 and as Governor of the state three times from 1808 to 1817. He died on Nov. 9, 1819, in his home on Market St., which still stands, and was buried in the First Lutheran Church cemetery.
