The Pavek Museum of Broadcasting in St. Louis Park, Minnesota, preserves one of the world’s most significant collections of vintage radio, television, and recording equipment, tracing the development of broadcasting and sound technology in the United States. The collection began with Joe Pavek’s efforts in 1946 to save distinctive radios from being discarded while he taught at the Dunwoody Institute. It grew for decades and was ultimately preserved through the efforts of Pavek, Earl Bakken, and Paul Hedberg, leading to the museum’s opening in 1988. Its holdings were further strengthened by John T. “Jack” Mullin’s collection, and it has offered educational courses since its founding.
