Province Hospital was built in 1906 and was the first and only hospital in Johnson County until after World War II. It also honored a lineage of family physicians who served there: William M. Province, 1867 - 1924; Clarence Province, 1898 - 1931; Oran A. Province, 1906 - 1964; and William D. Province, 1945 - 1990.
