Ebenfeld was the first organized Mennonite Brethren Church in North America, rooted in a journey from the steppes of South Russia to the plains of central Kansas. Its history was linked to a biblical charge from Joshua 4:21-24 to teach future generations the meaning of these stones so that all people might know the mighty hand of the Lord and fear the Lord forever. The congregation marked its 125th anniversary from 1876 to 2001.
