David Nave built a blacksmith shop and home near this crossing of the Nashville to Hopkinsville Road and the Ironworks Road in 1829, and the place became known as Nave's Crossroads. A post office began in 1852 and was located 600 feet east of here, named Coopertown because of the thriving barrel-making and cooper industry in this region.
