Bell Witch Cave is a karst cave near Adams, Tennessee, on land linked to the former Bell Farm. Roughly 490 feet long, it is a privately owned show cave open for tours in summer and October. Its fame rests on its association with the Bell Witch legend, an alleged haunting of the Bell family that later traditions connected to the cave as the spirit’s refuge. A well-known story tells of Betsy Bell and other children exploring inside when a trapped boy was freed by unseen hands and warned against reckless behavior. Although some scholars dispute these cave stories as later additions, the site remains a local attraction where folklore and geology meet.
