Within nine blocks, Standard Oil of Indiana purchased 156 homes, of which 150 still stand, creating the largest known collection of Sears Catalogue Homes in a concentrated area in the world. The neighborhood is bounded by Whitley Street on the north, Burton Street on the south, University Street on the east, and High Street on the west. North of Standard Addition is Carlinville Plaza, and Granny Wilson's Garden is located on the southeast boundary of the plaza.
