Andrew and Anna Hoffman lived on this land and raised their family here for 20 years after moving to Live Oak Canyon from Santa Ana in 1955 with their four youngest children. Their property covered approximately ten acres and included a three bedroom family home. Anna was an avid gardener, and her many succulents and flowering plants continue to thrive on the property. In 1975, after the County purchased the land as part of an O'Neill Regional Park extension, the Hoffmans moved back to Santa Ana. Although the house is gone, remnants of its foundation remain visible, and the trail later took the name Hoffman Homestead Trail to preserve the family's legacy.
