Kiser Lake State Park
Nature
Kiser Lake State Park in western Ohio encompasses 531 acres centered on 396-acre Kiser Lake, with 51 more acres protected as the Kiser Lake Wetlands State Nature Preserve. The site originated with an 1840 mill dam, but that dam and lake later declined after abandonment. In 1932, John W. Kiser gave the land to the state so the lake could be rebuilt for recreation, and a new dam begun in 1939 allowed the lake to be refilled the next year. The park is now known for non-motorized boating, fishing, swimming, camping, hiking, horseback riding, nature study, sailing, and scuba diving.
