Davey Woods State Nature Preserve is a 103-acre protected area in Champaign County, Ohio, that preserves one of the best remaining woodlots in that part of the state. As an old-growth forest, it is rare in a region where most original woodland has been cleared or altered. Acquired in 1989 with help from The Nature Conservancy and funding support from the Davey Tree Expert Company, for which it is named, the preserve also stands out for its notably hilly terrain. It is used for hiking and wildlife observation, and its greatest importance is in preserving an old forest community that reflects the region’s earlier natural landscape.
