Gjerpen Evangelical Lutheran Church was founded in 1850. Its pastors were H. A. Stub from 1850 to 1852, J. A. Otteson from 1852 to 1860, L. M. Biorn from 1862 to 1872, A. O. Alfsen from 1872 to 1917, A. O. White from 1917 to 1930, E. A. Fretheim from 1931 to 1940, Martin Trygstad from 1940 to 1945, Norman Berntson from 1946 to 1952, Alvin Holland from 1952 to 1957, Jerry Moe from 1957 to 1959, and Robert Onkka from 1960. The first church was erected in 1856, and a second church was erected in 1876. On January 1, 1961, it merged with Valders Evangelical Lutheran Church and Our Savior's Evangelical Lutheran Church to form Faith Lutheran Church.
