James O'Hara, born in 1754 and died in 1819, was an Indian fighter and trader, a Revolutionary patriot and soldier, a friend of George Washington, the first Quartermaster General of the United States Army at Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a government supply officer during the Whiskey Insurrection, a merchant, manufacturer, and banker, and the first and largest landowner by grants for military service on the site that later became Shousetown.
