Local people raised funds to purchase this bell, aided by a large donation from Mr. and Mrs. Marble. For several years in the early 1880's, Mr. and Mrs. Marble and their guests came to Dawson in their private railroad car to enjoy hunting in the area. Mrs. Marble took a strong interest in the struggling little church, which led to her gift. The bell bears the inscription, The Jones Troy Bell Co, 1886, Congl' Church, Dawson. It was the first church bell between Jamestown and Bismarck.
