One mile south on Seacock Swamp stood the home of Colonel Michael Blow. He was the first Chairman of the Committee of Safety of Sussex County, a member of the House of Burgesses, a member of the First Virginia Convention in 1774, a County Justice, and a colonel in the Revolutionary Army.
