South Versailles Township in Coulter, Pennsylvania, honors local men and women who answered their country's call in the Great World War from 1917 to 1919, in World War II from 1941 to 1945, in the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954, in the Vietnam Conflict from 1965 to 1973, and in Desert Storm in 1991, and it also recognizes additional veterans of South Versailles, Civil War veterans, and a Spanish American War veteran, while declaring, "Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends," and marking those killed in action.
