In January 1895, Alpha Chapel was a new chapel midway between Bethania and Rural Hall, regarded as the first step the Bethania congregation had taken toward church extension beyond itself. Nearly completed at that time, the building measured 20 by 30 feet and had a steep roof, box finish, 14 foot ceiling, a double entrance with transom, and six windows, with an unfinished steeple expected to enhance its appearance when completed by the two carpenters in charge. The small chapel never developed into an independent church. Instead, it was moved to the grounds of Mizpah Moravian Church, and when a growing Mizpah Moravian no longer needed it, the building was transferred to a local farm site. In 2001, the chapel was relocated to its present site after Mr. and Mrs. Burton Winfrey donated it to the Town of Bethania. Today, the restored building serves as the Bethania Town Hall and Office.
