A log cabin built around 1854 on the Conway Road property later owned by George Oge stood in the New Alsace settlement, one of two original German settlements in the region that later became part of Town & Country. The property was first purchased by Benjamin Y. Hancock in 1825 and was later purchased by Oge, who became New Alsace's postmaster in 1875. The 1878 Pitzman Atlas showed a store on the property along with four other buildings. Oge lived there until his death in 1891, leaving the property to his wife and ten children. Over the years, the cabin was altered with additional rooms and clapboard siding, and by the time it was relocated, the downstairs served as a dining room and the upstairs as a bedroom. After the residence containing the cabin faced demolition in the fall of 2012, efforts were made to preserve it, salvaging foundation stones and stones from the on-site smokehouse, disassembling the cabin, moving its logs to Drace Park, and reconstructing it there after grant funding was secured; reconstruction began the following summer after a fall 2013 grant and the project was dedicated in May 2016.
