A year after it was built, this building was purchased by beer baron Adolph Coors from stockbrokers William P. Bonbright and J. Arthur Connell. Coors then leased the property to Henry Bunte for his B.B. Saloon, with the agreement that Bunte feature Coors' products. The German-born Coors followed the European tradition of brewery ownership of local pubs, and in Colorado he built his distribution system by buying buildings and leasing them to saloon proprietors. By the time Coors beer came to Cripple Creek, the Adolph Coors Golden Brewery owned pubs and sold beer throughout the state.
