Industry
1
These mill stones came from Connecticut and were drawn to Cherry Creek by oxen in 1837. Solomon Hinche purchased the property from Noah Wheeler, and the property had a mill called Hinche Mill. Henry and Bertha Peters later purchased the Hinche property. During World War II, the stones were moved to their home on South Side Avenue in Cherry Creek. After Henry's death, they were moved in 1978 to 32 Barton Street in Mayville, NY. Harold and Liz Peters donated them to the Cherry Creek Museum in 2001.
