After 120 years as an incorporated township, Selmer elected its first female mayor when citizens chose Sherry Lea Inman on November 2, 2021, to govern the town of 4,400. Inman's roots are deep in McNairy County, and after growing up with parents who were business owners in Selmer, she continued into adulthood in business and civic endeavors to help ensure that her hometown prospered. Her love for her family and friends, the city, and the county gave her the incentive to seek and win the mayor's position in 2021.
