The McClintock-Steele-Waitz House, also known as Coal Oil Johnny's House, is a timber frame home constructed in the early 1850's by Culbertson and Sarah "Sally" McClintock along the west bank of Oil Creek about 0.7 mile downstream from its present site. In 2001, the building was disassembled and rebuilt here to preserve it as an example of pre-oilboom post-and-beam construction. It is associated with the place where petroleum's prodigal prince grew up, where his young wife lived during his philandering days, and a house he lost in bankruptcy despite inheriting his family's oil royalties from wells including the still-producing McClintock No. 1 in Rouseville.
