The oldest church congregation in Fort Thomas began in the home of Wm. and Alice Taliaferro in 1830. In 1832, a log structure was built for Sunday services and served as the first school in the area during the week. From 1850 to 1852, a frame church building was erected on N. Fort Thomas Ave. near Holly Lane. In 1900, the present building was built on this site. From 1900 to 1913, all Highlands High School baccalaureate and graduation services were held in this church. The first kindergarten in the city met here until it moved to Moyer in 1931. At least 148 men and women from the church served in World War II. After Highlands High School burned in 1962, the church housed the seventh and eighth grades for the rest of the year.
