Joseph E. Ibberson Conservation Area on Peters Mountain in Pennsylvania is a minimally developed protected landscape created from land donated by forester Joseph E. Ibberson in 1998 and opened to the public in 2000 as the first conservation area in the Pennsylvania Bureau of State Parks. Its forests reflect both heavy 19th-century logging and later ecological recovery, while supporting low-impact recreation such as hiking, skiing, and hunting. The mountain also holds deep human history, with evidence of habitation for more than 11,000 years, later Native peoples, and early European settlement tied to Peter Allen’s 1726 house on Augusta Road.
