Tennessee Meiji Gakuin High School existed here from 1989 to 2007. The school was founded on the Christian principle of service to mankind, with the motto "Do for others." During its 18 years, it graduated 677 students. Those students, along with the teachers and staff, were part of the local community. The Japanese Sakura and the Tennessee Iris symbolized that community's friendship and the bridges built between Japan and Tennessee.
