Index Peak
Nature
Index Peak is a 10,709-foot mountain in the Absaroka Range of northwestern Wyoming, in Park County near the Northeast Entrance to Yellowstone National Park. Easily visible from U.S. Route 212, the Beartooth Highway, it stands along one of Yellowstone’s most dramatic approaches and serves as a prominent landmark on the high-country road. Pilot Peak rises just to its south, and together the two summits shape the skyline along this stretch of the Absarokas.
