Pomponio State Beach is a California state beach on the San Mateo County coast, about 12 miles south of Half Moon Bay on State Route 1. Between Pescadero and San Gregorio State Beaches, it stretches for several miles where a sloping sandy shore meets high sandstone bluffs, with a small lagoon below adding to its varied landscape. The beach offers day-use amenities including parking, a picnic area, hiking trails, and beach access, but no camping. Dogs and campfires are not allowed on the beach. Its name honors José Pomponio Lupugeym, a Bolinas Native American and outlaw captured and executed in 1824.
