David Crockett, a pioneer, statesman, and hero, was born August 17, 1786, and died March 6, 1836. While a resident of this county, he served three terms in the Congress of the United States. He emigrated to Texas in 1835 and was killed at the Alamo while fighting for the independence of Texas. “BE SURE YOU'RE RIGHT, THEN GO AHEAD.”
