The Museum of Neon Art in Glendale, California preserves historic neon signs and electric and kinetic art while presenting neon as both public art and urban memory. Founded in 1981 by Lili Lakich and Richard Jenkins, it moved through several Los Angeles locations before reopening in Glendale in 2016. Its collection includes notable signs tied to Los Angeles history, from the Brown Derby and Grauman’s Chinese Theatre to objects linked to Little Tokyo, Glendale’s Jewish history, and LGBT+ businesses. Through exhibitions, glass-bending classes, walking tours, and restoration work, it has saved more than 500 historic signs and helped relight over 150 across Los Angeles County.
