The memorial honors the men who gave the ultimate sacrifice and are remembered for laying down their lives for their country and fellow man: Clemens Poelker in World War I; Arthur Herzing, Edward Baehr, George Szuba, Raymond Roberts, Walter Stroheide, and Francis Gausepohl in World War II; John Ingram in the Korean War; and Theodore Wolters and Ralph Wellinghoff in the Vietnam War.
