Early pioneers John and Mary Hoye came to the valley in 1863 or 1864. On the edge of Alkali Flat they operated a station, which they later moved to its present location in 1873. Through the years there have been several owners without any interruption of services, making it one of the oldest continuously operating businesses in Nevada.
