The Wood Site in Hayes Township, northern Michigan, is an archaeological site associated with a seasonally occupied fishing camp from the Late Woodland period. Used roughly between AD 1020 and AD 1510, it reflects a long span of pre-contact Native American activity. Its importance rests in showing a pattern of seasonal settlement organized around fishing resources over many generations. Recognized as a historic place, it was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1976.
