The Rusk County Historical Society Museum at the Rusk County Fairgrounds in Ladysmith, Wisconsin, preserves the history of Rusk County and Wisconsin through a large local collection and open-air setting. Operated by the nonprofit Rusk County Historical Society, incorporated in 1955, it holds more than 9,000 artifacts related to county history. Several buildings connected by walkways, including the Henry Golat Welcome and Research Building, the Little Red Schoolhouse, and the Gates County Courthouse, house exhibits on military history, mining, logging, and farm equipment. Together, these objects and reconstructed spaces present everyday life, work, and community memory in northern Wisconsin.
