Christie Mountain in Bruce, Wisconsin, developed in the Blue Hills into a durable winter recreation destination after opening in 1977. George and Pat Sorenson designed and built its original trails, lifts, well, snowmaking pond, and chalet, giving the ski hill its family-built character and a name drawn from the stem christie turn. After Jim and Laura Landreth bought it in 1985, they expanded the chalet, added runs, and began the Blue Hills Beast tradition. David and Sue Vohs later enlarged the resort further. It now offers 30 trails, multiple lift types, tubing and snowshoe rentals, and other amenities as a compact all-ages winter sports center.
