The Eaker site, on Eaker Air Force Base near Blytheville, Arkansas, is the largest and most intact known Late Mississippian Nodena phase village site in the Central Mississippi Valley. Occupied more than once between about 600 CE and 1500 CE, it was most heavily settled from 1350 to 1450 CE as a palisaded village of about 50 acres, with hundreds of structures inside a wooden wall and ditch. Surveys and excavations since the 1970s have identified house sites, middens, workshop areas, human remains, and thousands of artifacts. Despite damage from runway construction after 1942, the site remains important for studying settlement, burial, trade, and agriculture.
