At Valley Forge, from December 19, 1777, to June 18, 1778, Scott's Brigade served in the Continental Army division under Brigadier General Charles Scott. The brigade included an additional infantry regiment from the Pennsylvania Line under Colonel John Patton, raised January 11, 1777, and consolidated with the 11th Regiment Infantry on January 13, 1779, as well as the 4th Virginia Infantry, 8th Virginia Infantry under Colonel Abraham Bowman, 12th Virginia Infantry, and the Virginia Regiment Infantry At Large under Colonel William Grayson.
