Buckhorn Lake State Resort Park is a Kentucky state park in northwestern Perry County beside the Daniel Boone National Forest. Covering 856 acres, it centers on Buckhorn Lake, a 1,230-acre mountain reservoir created by damming the Middle Fork of the Kentucky River. The lake defines the park’s recreation, including swimming, boating, canoeing, and muskie fishing. On land, the 1.5-mile Moonshiner’s Hollow Interpretive Trail includes 18 stations on local geology, flora, and fauna, and the Leatherwood Trail connects for longer hikes. With a 36-room lodge and five cottages overlooking the water, the park combines outdoor recreation with the feel of a mountain retreat.
