The Boy Scouts of America dedicated a replica of the Statue of Liberty as a pledge of everlasting fidelity and loyalty, invoking the faith and courage of their forefathers who made possible the freedom of the United States. As part of a 40th Anniversary Crusade to Strengthen the Arm of Liberty, it stood as a symbol of liberty and freedom. In the Bicentennial Year 1976, as in 1776, it called for joint efforts to encourage and maintain freedom and liberty for all who yearn to breathe free. After September 11, 2001 and during the War on Terror, the effort to strengthen the arm of liberty continued in 2003 as in 1950, and the statue remained a pledge of everlasting fidelity and loyalty through the Decatur County Statue of Liberty Restoration Project of 2002 - 2003.
