Seven Tubs Recreation Area is a 537-acre public park in Luzerne County, south of Wilkes-Barre, known for a chain of smooth rock tubs carved into gritty sandstone by glacial meltwater more than 12,000 years ago. Wheelbarrow Run and Laurel Run have also cut gorges and small canyons in the cool, shaded landscape of Whirlpool Valley. The area is a valued local destination for accessible, beginner-friendly hiking, though loose stones and slippery moss can make the natural rock hazardous. Its forest supports diverse wildlife and about 60 kinds of wildflowers, and it is planned as the future northern terminus of the 165-mile D&L Trail.
