The Greenbackville Volunteer Fire Department, Inc. building was constructed in May 1956 on land donated by the late John A. Selby. It was renovated into a community center in August 2004 and was dedicated in memory of all those whose hard work and devotion to their community helped make the department what it is. Additional funds needed to complete the renovations were given in memory of Lois "Mom" Merrill by Richard A. Culver. Special recognition was given to the Greenbackville V.F.D. Ladies Auxiliary for their dedication and contributions toward the building.
