A portion of the world-renowned Tehachapi Loop can be seen from this spot. It was completed in 1876 under the direction of Southern Pacific Railroad engineer William Hood. As a 4000 foot train gains elevation around the loop's central hill, it crosses 77 feet above its rear cars in the tunnel below.
