Cesar Chavez, the farmworker who became this nation's most important Latino leader in the 20th century, chose this as his home, office, and final resting place. Here he found spiritual and physical refuge from the conflict and threats faced by farmworkers struggling for civil rights. He named it Nuestra Señora Reina de la Paz - Our Lady Queen of Peace - or La Paz, for short.
