Near this site was the junction of the old Baltimore-Annapolis Road, known as Generals Highway, and a road laid out by Charles Carroll from Doughoregan Manor. On the south side of Severn Run stood Widow Ramsey’s, where George Washington breakfasted on June 7, 1773, and again on May 6, 1775, as he traveled north to take command of the revolutionary forces.
