Summerfield School Gym, originally known as the "Rock Gym," was completed in 1939 as a Works Project Administration building in the Rustic Revival style, constructed with quarried rock from the nearby Robert Gamble farm and volunteer help from local residents. Beyond its sporting uses, it also served as a multi-use community center. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012 and received major renovations in 2013.
