Plainville honored the men and women of the town who served in the armed forces during World War I and World War II, and dedicated eternal memory to those who gave the last full measure of devotion and sacrifice. The inscription identifies service in 1917–1918 and 1941–1950 and includes named dead from World War I, World War II, Maritime Service, and Korean Service, while also recording that 189 names are listed for World War I and 1161 names are listed for World War II.
